Today I went to my first Zero Waste Club meeting on campus. My friend Jeremy is the new President and has a lot of great ideas and motivation for the club. I'm really, really excited to be an active part of the club and meet all of the like minded people who will attend the meetings regularly.
In regular news, today's "waste" included a candy wrapper, two paper wrappers, and a plastic food wrapper.
I need to begin buying things with less packaging like bulk items. I want to go to goodwill soon and get some nice large glass jars so I can store bulk items. Also, I need to begin "refusing". Refusing what? Refusing to buy items that have packaging material. I need to go all out and make this a personal goal to reducing the "waste" that I produce. Yea, I can find a way to repurpose all of the "waste", but I can also find ways to never accumulate the waste in the first place.
After the Zero Waste meeting today, my friend Arlie told me of this blog: http://zerowastehome.blogspot.com. I find it very inspirational and insightful as to what I can do to further my Zero Waste efforts.
Also today though, I went dumpster diving at House of Bagels and pulled out two dozen everything bagels and also a large bag of cinnamon raisin bagel dough! I brought it home and we made bagel bread, bagel muffins, bagels, and more!
