Today I went grocery shopping. I took with me a reusable shopping bag, and a bunch of glass and plastic containers. First stop was the Natural Foods Co-Op of Slo. They sell mainly bulk food items and raw ingredients. I purchased oatmeal and granola in bulk along with loose leaf veggies. I want to start shopping here and in other bulk grocery store sections as much as I can.
Next, I went to Trader Joe's. There I got more fruits and veggies, all loose leaf. Then, I walked next door to Food 4 Less. I purchased tuna in cans, large glass jars of applesauce and a large glass jar of pickles. The glass jars are great for storing bulk food items once the original product has been consumed. I'm excited to build my jar collection and convert my pantry into a bunch of raw ingredients in nice looking glass jars =D
Oh, and today's "waste" included compostable food waste, 3 receipts, and some other small paper packaging.
Oh again! Today was also a Zero Waste Club meeting. We talked about making some events on campus Zero Waste and we also made kaleidoscopes out of all once used materials! It was really fun!
