Today, I went out to New Frontiers to get some groceries. New Frontiers has a pretty extensive bulk section and with the exception of some sausage at the meat counter, that is where I purchased everything today. I purchased freshly ground honey roasted peanut butter, granola, raisins, peanuts, pasta & loose-leaf carrots. My food cabinet is slowly becoming more and more bulk foods with less and less packaging. It looks awesome.
My "waste" for today included the receipt from shopping and the plastic bags used for purchasing bulk. However, I am saving those bags for future bulk purchases :)
Also, today was a Zero Waste Club meeting on campus. We talked more about a trash can attachment for adding compost and recycling options to existing trashcans. We are going to make prototypes to test out and then around 20-30 of them to use at Open House in the Spring.
And last but not least, today I put up a clothesline in the laundry room. As Olga says, "shit dries for free so why are we paying to do it?" Which is so true. I am going to implement this green practice from now on.
